Maybe 10-15 years ago, eBay was a great place to sell ~ sort of the Wild West era based on our experience. There were no restrictions as far as sellers leaving negative feedback. There were far fewer large companies selling on the site. eBay had fewer rules; they hadn't yet become the owners of PayPal to our recollection. You could accept a variety of payments. Since then, their prices/fees have risen, and the marketplace has become saturated. A lot of individuals under valuing their merchandise and making it more difficult to sell at a realistic price are on eBay. Buying is different. If you know your market and know your merchandise, you can buy at a good price on eBay and resell it locally. That is true particularly for antiques and collectibles At least that was our experience when we were in a brick and mortar store. eBay is just not a fun place to sell any more!
