This charming cat-on-a-fence paper mache lantern is a candy container made c. 1940s. This fellow has seen a few scraps in his time. He has some missing paint on his ears and some random spots on the body. The primary wear is on the opening in the back of the lantern including a less than ½ inch puncture at the bottom edge of the opening. There is also wear around the bottom edge. The inside is clean; the insert is original although there is a little hole on one of the upper teeth, and a piece missing on the upper right side of the insert which cant be seen when the insert is in place.This lantern would make a great mascot – one sits on the office desk at CurioCorner, although not in pristine condition, we are very fond of him. Give this one a good home!
