Paper mache jack o-lantern candy container c. 1940. This is a small lantern measuring 4 inches high. It is in good condition with some characteristic imperfections consistent with its age. These were dime store candy containers made somewhat crudely with natural imperfections including a small bump in the paint on the lower left back side . There is visible wear around the top rim; the inside is clean. There are some scuffs on the left cheek, middle of the left side, lower right side, a less than ¼ inch dent on the upper right side one inch from the right eye hole.The right hole where the wire was inserted is elongated. The paint on the lower left back side has some crackling or spidering in it over approx. a one inch area, notable but not detracting. The insert is a reproduction skillfully made on 60-year-old paper.
