980 Sterling and Enamel Snake Bracelet Signed Artisan Crafted Dazzling Colors

An exceptional sterling and enamel bracelet crafted with incredible detail and vibrant colors by silver master Melesio Villarreal, Taxco, Mexico.  He is considered one of the few remaining Taxco artists whose work is extremely high quality.  Villarreal worked for Margot de Taxco for 30 years and produced many of her designs from old forms he had saved.  The bracelet is fully detailed on each articulated section.  It is made entirely with 980 silver, far purer than the 925 silver used more commonly for Mexican jewelry. The bracelet is hallmarked with the artist’s stylized script “Melesio Villarreal” signature and marked “980.”  An incredible amount of work went into creating this piece of wearable art.

The bracelet is designed with 14 hinged sections, two of which are the serpent’s head and tail. The measurements are 1-11/16 inches wide where the head and tail meet, and it tapers to approx. 3/8 inch wide at the tail.  It has a wearable length of 7 inches.   Weight of the bracelet is 50 grams of 980 silver. All of the sections are inlayed with colorful enamel and jet black details on collar and eyes. Handcrafted silver hinges join all the sections, and a secure tongue-in-box catch augmented with a silver security chain completes the bracelet.  There is a large silver post used where the serpent’s head and tail join which enables the bracelet to pivot fully open for ease of putting on the bracelet.  In excellent  condition.
