Early 20th Late 19th Century Celluloid Tri-fold Mirror Pristine Condition
SKU: V0073
This is an early 19th century or early 20th century celluloid tri-fold mirror. There is a patent date on the rim that reads “August 7,…” however the year is illegible. Each frame segment measures approximately 7-1/8 inches wide x 9 inches high. The legs, which are sturdy, each measure approx. 15/16 inches long. There is a green man type of embellishment on top of the center frame which has a chain for hanging on the wall. The left panel has a framed oval of a young woman in a bonnet who is carrying flowers. The print is covered with clear glass. The oval frame has some darkening. The back panel is covered with a heavy paper material with moderate random rubs, none of which is material. The back of the right panel has plain celluloid. There is a small triangle of celluloid missing from the upper left corner. The mirrors are beveled and in very good condition consistent with their age; no cracks or loss of silvering. The hardware including the hinges and locking clasp are in good condition also. This mirror must have been sheltered in an attic trunk.
